Hey there

Welcome to all ladies and gentlemen,

those in-between, and those beyond.

The Lit Lab is a space where all

readers, dreamers, doers, be-ers, stans, fans, disruptors, creators, or whatever type of young adult can find something to read/watch/listen to that is actually relevant without being infantilizing or so old and boring you want to die. Check out the blog below to find your next binge!

The Lit Lab contains thirty YA materials for people of all ages, backgrounds, and interests to enjoy. Fifteen of the materials are print books; six are movies and television programs; seven are audio programs like audiobooks, albums, or podcasts; two are video games. Each of the 30 materials has its own blog post with more details and analysis of the work. The blog posts are arranged in four main indexes; an index by title, and index by type of material, an index by genre, and an index by author. Additionally, there is a blog post page that includes all of the posts together with visual elements. With a selection like this you are bound to find something for you.  You might recognize a lot of these titles from BookTok on TikTok or from Youtube book review channels. That's because I did my best to find out what actual teens and young adults are obsessed with right now. Check it out!

This is Doug. Everyone say, "Hi" to Doug.

ABOUT CFPL

I created the Carrie Fisher Public Library as an imaginary space in which I could plan for the type of librarianship I hope to someday be able to do. At the Carrie Fisher Public Library, the public would not object to a library exploring all of the diversity in the world, talking about Critical Race Theory, or featuring stories that highlight LGBTQIA+ characters. In this imagined space every person would see themselves reflected in the books, media, and events around them. Previously, I completed a 12-month children's programming calendar for this library. Now, I am focusing on YA materials for the older-young crowd.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

MOLLY SOUZA

General Life Enthusiast

Having, for the most part, enjoyed the last twenty six years on planet Earth Molly has learned of a few things they like to do. Most of those things involve telling silly jokes, meditating and/ or frolicking, writing stories, collecting herbology notes for their grimoire, playing Dungeons and Dragons, baking delicious little pies and whatnots, and exploring nature. When Molly is not engaged in their various witchcrafts and other avocation they also enjoy studying library science and exploring the ways library spaces can be used to bring communities together. Molly is grateful and excited to be a graduate student in the MLIS program  and hopes to one day be a helpful librarian.
